German premiere
Two English neighbours, both named Derek, whose fields lie side by side. Yet their ideas about farming, life and work set them apart. On one side, intensive, traditional dairy farming; on the other, a commitment to the wilderness: ponds are created, beavers dam ditches, and nearly extinct local species return. Amidst fence-top chats, hedge trimming and the changing seasons, the film observes a conflict that is comical, heated and surprisingly human. How do we reconcile agriculture, food production and biodiversity?
The film was produced with the support of the Redford Center, founded by the recently deceased actor and climate activist Robert Redford. The foundation is one of the few non-profit organisations in America dedicated to addressing environmental impacts.
