Robert Bilott (Mark Ruffalo), a lawyer in Cincinnati, is contacted by farmers from West Virginia who accuse the DuPont plant of disposing of toxic waste. Their fields have been destroyed, their livestock has perished. Bilott files a complaint – the beginning of a 15-year legal battle that not only puts a strain on his health and livelihood, but also on his family. The film is based on true events.
